Well, better late than never I suppose but here’s College Hockey News’ Hockey East preview. They don’t make any predictions but there are some pretty good capsules of each team.

Looking ahead to Friday UMass as put up their game notes for the matchup against Maine. Oh boy, it’s country night. Remind me to bring my earplugs so I don’t have to hear the shrill country western music.

Kevin Boyle and Mike Pereira were both listed as “players to watch” by the NHL Central Scouting Service for next year’s draft. Pereira is listed as a potential mid round pick and Boyle as a potential late round pick. I’m a little surprised/disappointed not to see Joel Hanley on the list.
The Indiana Ice issued this release about John Parker and his other Indiana teammates chosen to represent the US at the World Junior A Challenge next month.

Elsewhere around college hockey…
If the RPI was available for the season the win against BU would probably be hurting UMass as the Terriers lost last night at home to Notre Dame 3-0. After putting up over 40 shots against the Minutemen they only managed 16 against the Irish and went 0 for 8 on the power play. Maybe Jack Parker was smart to raise the championship banner before an exhibition game.
Cornell is going to retire Ken Dryden’s jersey this season. What?!? How has this not happened already??
Finally, good luck to the UMass women’s club hockey team which begins play this weekend. The women’s club team has established themselves as one of the best programs at that level. I was very glad to see a banner go up in the practice rink last year to commemorate their deep run into the ACHA tournament.
