Polls; Marcou Named Player of the Month

Well my short vacation is over but luckily I only have a short two day work week and then Friday it’ll be back to Amherst again for hockey and football this weekend.

Catching up on what has happened the last couple days; UMass dropped two spots to #19 in the USCHO poll while they’re the second team in the also receiving votes category in the USA Today/USA Hockey poll.  INCH has the Minutemen at #17 in their power rankings.  UMass also gets a mention in their First Shift segment.

Alex Beaudry was deservedly named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week for his play against UMass last weekend.  Matt Irwin is named as one of the Top Performers while he, Brian Keane, and Will Ortiz are mentioned in the Milestones section.

Meanwhile James Marcou was named Hockey East Player of the Month for October.  Marcou had two goals and five assists in the four conference games last month.

  2. Been wondering the same thing Alan. Maybe we used up all the bandwidth?

Also, I can’t wait see what the Lowell Blog thinks of Marcou winning this award.

    • I’m more interested in what College Hockey News and Inside College Hockey think of it since they refused to put him on their pre-season All American/Players to Watch lists even though he was a 2nd team AA last season. How do like them apples?!
