Polls; Awards

I apologize for lack of a recap yesterday for the Lowell game but I wasn’t able to get to it.  I also don’t know exactly what to think.  I was very happy to see the team establish and early lead but obviously that only pays if you can keep it.  Lowell is a great team but I wasn’t happy to see how the team faded at the end of the game or their performance on the power play.  One thing is for sure, I’m going to have serious concerns if the team is riding a four game losing streak.

Fear The Triangle Player of the Game – James Marcou
He had a nice setup for Casey Wellman’s goal and probably had the best all-around game.

Two losses, even to two good teams, will not help rankings so it’s of no surprise that UMass dropped to 15th in the weekly USCHO poll as well as the USA Today/USA Hockey poll.  UNH reappears on the list after going 5-0-1 in the last six games.

The team checks in at 13th in the INCH Power Rankings.

No UMass players were honored with Hockey East awards this week (though a couple opponents did in BC’s Parker Milner and Lowell’s David Vallorani).
