USHR is reporting that UMass Assistant Red Gendron is one of four finalists for the vacant coaching position at the US National Development Program Under-18 Team in Ann Arbor, MI. Coach Gendron has previous junior hockey coaching experience, his last with the Indiana Ice of the USHL. The Under-18 Team also currently plays in the USHL.
The other finalists according to the report are UAH coach Danton Cole, Union coach Nate Leaman, and former AHL assistant Troy Ward. The NTDP’s previous coach, Kurt Kleinendorst, is aiming for an AHL coaching job in Houston.

/ June 5, 2010Goodbye coach Red. Unlike the Brown job, this is an opportunity he’ll get & take.
In December (or sooner), we’ll look back and see this loss is big.
