Goaltender Kevin Moore has his latest edition of “One Moore Minute” up on the UMassathletics site. This one follows one of the stars of last weekend, Anthony Raiola, on his trip to play in his home state. This clip is a great chance to get to know Raiola but also shows us eastern fans a glimpse into the grandeur that is Minnesota High School hockey, a significant difference from here in the northeast where high school hockey has been hurt by the local prep leagues as well as junior hockey.
The UMass Hockey season preview show will be airing this Saturday at 11am. I’ll already be at McGuirk tailgating for the homecoming football game when it airs, but it is nice to see the athletic department and CBS3 putting an effort into marketing the program. Between this and things like Dick Baker’s daily blog from the Republican, it’s great to see so many outlets looking to deliver UMass content to their consumers. It just goes to show that the program is making roots into Western Mass and it’s not just the diehard fans that are showing interest in the team. UMass hockey is becoming one of the valley’s bigger attractions.

Saturday, homecoming day at the University of Massachusetts, will officially be George N. Parks Day across the Commonwealth. George will be remembered but sadly and missed at Saturday’s football game against Richmond.

/ October 14, 2010I’ve always thought that UMass hockey was negligent in not promoting the game better in W. Mass (remember that awful 700 fan crowd at Springfield vs. Ucon?), so it’s really nice to see this happening. Maybe we’ll actually have a shot at Tyler Kelleher 🙂
I’ll be @ UNH this weekend, but will try to make it out to Amherst for the return game. First (or last) beer is on me.
