Recruit Update

Kenny Gillespie – RW – Omaha Lancers (USHL) – 2012
14 GP / 2 G / 3 A / 5 Pts / 23 PIM / +2
Gillespie still appears to be out with an injury. He was mentioned in this blog post by Ryan S Clark regarding the influx of black players in the USHL.

Willy Smith – LW – Springfield Pics (EJHL/EmpJHL) – 2014
EJHL: 12 GP / 1 G / 1 A / 2 Pts / 9 PIM
Empire: 16 GP / 5 G / 14 A / 19 Pts / 20 PIM
From one of the games Smith played over the weekend comes one of the crazier boxscores you’ll ever see. His Pics lost to the South Shore Kings 11-1. The game featured 38 penalties for 113 minutes. The Pics went 0 for 10 on the power play. Evan Moorhouse, the Pics goaltender and son to former UMass play by play announcer Donnie Moorhouse, played the entire game despite giving up the 11 goals and having to face 16 King power plays. Smith’s line for the game looks pretty normal however, he did assist on the lone Pics goal and picked up ONLY 2 penalty minutes. I almost went to the game since it wasn’t too far away in Foxboro. Overall, I’m probably glad I didn’t.

Shane Walsh – LW – Dubuque Fighting Saints (USHL) – 2012
20 GP / 5 G / 6 A / 11 Pts / 0 PIM / -6
Walsh did not score in his lone game for the Saints this past weekend.

The big news around Hockey East and college hockey today was the arrest and dismissal of Boston University’s Corey Trivino, the league’s top goalscorer. Trivino was arrested for breaking and entering, indecent assault, and attempted rape. He was already on his last chance from coach Jack Parker after multiple issues with alcohol and breaking team rules, including being part of the incident that led to the dismissal of the Saponaris from the team. You’d think he would’ve wised up, but it appears his problems are bigger than he can address alone. Either way, Hockey East is without it’s top goalscorer and BU is without their star player. It’ll be interesting to see how this changes the dynamic of the season. BU has one game left with the Minutemen, to be played at Agganis. Trivino had a goal and an assist in the two games against UMass so far.

I’ve been doing some maintenance around FTT these past few days. The Road Trip and Recruit pages have both been updated.
