/ June 19, 2012Great 12 year run with first NCAA birth, HE Finals, and top 25 rankings. Toot deserves nothing but appreciation and respect which he has in all former players. Hopefully, former players have input on the next coach.

/ June 19, 2012We all should thank Toot for bringing the program to where it is today. Aside from hockey, one of the nicest people I have ever met. Whoever the next coach is I hope they have the stuff to take this team to the next level.

/ June 19, 2012It definitely will, it also will impact some of the current players. Not so much any of them leaving, but their heads must be spinning right now.

/ June 20, 2012No, players would still sit out for transferring. I don’t foresee any current players leaving who wouldn’t have anyway.

/ June 19, 2012I would compare toot to bob Davies at Norte dame. Not always the best teams, but had exceptional kids who all graduated and went on to do great things in life.

/ June 19, 2012My guess is that Toot probably sought a 2 year contract extension and when the AD balked…he walked. It was a vote of no confidence. Pretty tough to coach (and recruit) in your last year of a contract.

/ June 19, 2012Disagree. Toot coached (arguably) the best team he had under a last contract year (Braun/Wellman/Marcou/Irwin/etc etc). What makes zero sense is that after that team failed miserably (although losing to a great BC team), Toot was given an extension. Why would he be forced out now – or why would he leave a team that has potential, thus another potential hefty contract. Maybe Rocks knows…

/ June 19, 2012Based on all the information I’ve heard a potential contract extension did not come into play whatsoever.

/ June 19, 2012Who gives a rats ass about new recruits – this is more about the juniors and particularly the seniors that have done their time under Toot and certainly must have (had) big expectations for the upcoming season. If I’m an upperclassman on this squad – I am extremely disappointed at this point in time. Let’s hope the right replacements are brought in – but at this point in time I have zero faith that McCutcheon has the ability, let alone interest to get that done.

/ June 20, 2012agree w/ comment on cahoon’s last “great” team/contract yr….that team was loaded and was in the top 10/5 for months and completely collapsed in the last 4 weeks of the season

/ June 20, 2012Are we blaming that squarely on him?
What could toot have done with wellman at the end of the year with dollar signs in his eyes?
Looking back though, that team was loaded.
