Additional Micheletto Coverage

Just some links to pass along from yesterday’s introduction of John Micheletto as UMass head coach.

First, here is the article from the Boston Herald’s Jim Clark to go with his blog post yesterday.

Matt Vautour had this notes piece that I didn’t have a chance to link to last night featuring player reaction and some other tidbits.  Interesting to note that McCutcheon does admit that the timing of the search did affect some candidates’ interest in the position while Micheletto says that he spoke to equipment manager Josh Penn and women’s hoops coach Sharon Dawley about working at UMass.

Masslive’s Harry Plumer had a player reaction story as well.

USCHO had this interesting feature on UMass’ hire.

Up next for Micheletto will be hiring an assistant coach to fill out his staff.  Speculation is rampant and encouraging but so far nothing specific has been reported.

If you’re on Twitter, make sure you follow Coach Mick.

Nice to get back to talk on the ice. Who is gonna pick up the scoring with the loss of syner and Hobbs? We know sheary and pereira are going to score. Who else? Any upper classmen? Any freshmen? The defenseman are going to be a big strength for Umass this year. Hopefully the goaltending situation plays itself out. 2 great kids, hopefully one can snag the job. Will the pp improve? The pk was getting a lot better towards the end of last year, hopefully it continues. Who will take over for Syner?

Complete brain fart on my part. My apologies. Any of the three can take the job this year, I thought they all had their moments last year. Should be interesting.

Think you had it right the first time with two. Think Teglia on the outside looking in. Will see little action. Boyle the front runner.

    • We’ll see. You never know with a new coach coming in. Might not hurt that Teglia had two great games against Vermont last season.

There were times last year where I thought all three players were gonna emerge as the number 1 goalie at different times during the season.

sleeping giant is true…umass has all potential for final four…my god…did any team play b.c. better last march than umass? the ncaa teams looked pathetic against b.c. and umass dominated them for long stetches of both games…umass has the rabid fan base also…and ready to match any level the team achieves…go umass

They dominated that series at times, all four lines had constant pressure the entire game.

That will be a big key going forward this year, every line needs to show up every game.
