FTT Postponed Due to Snow

OK, here’s the deal.  This never ending winter is hindering my ability to keep up with things here at Fear The Triangle.  The 3 plus feet of snow we’ve gotten here on the south shore has kept me busy shoveling and raking during my evenings after work.  In addition I’ve been spending a lot of time, with mixed success, try to address the many leaks the snow has caused in my house.  And to top it off it’s now taking me upwards of 3 hours to commute my 40 miles round trip to work every day.  With a blizzard watch now in effect for Sunday and another potential storm coming late next week, it looks like the current situation will continue for the foreseeable future.  Unfortunately the current situation is leaving me no time to put into writing about UMass hockey.  It’s also starting to interfere with me travelling to watch UMass hockey too.  I just find myself running out of time.

So, I’m going to take a break.  It may be a week.  It may be a month.  It all depends on when the snow stops and the sun comes out.  Hopefully it’s not long.  It is definitely just temporary. But I don’t want to have to half-ass things here.  I promised myself I wouldn’t do that and it’s not fair to you readers.  So FTT is postponed until I get my hour or two back at night I used to invest in the blog.  I can promise at least one post in the next couple weeks, my annual post ahead of Senior Night a week from Saturday.

In the meantime, I’ll do my best to keep active on Twitter.  If you don’t have an account, you can always keep track of my  updates with the widget on the right panel here on the site.

A few quick updates before I sign off and have a much deserved beer.  First, this is a big weekend for UMass.  They have a chance to build off last week’s win against Lowell and gain another win or two.  Remember, Saturday’s game is the league game while tomorrow’s is non-conference.  For a refresher here’s my preview of last weekend’s game against the River Hawks as well as my recap of the win.  UMass will have to repeat their defensive performance against Lowell if they want to keep their winning ways going.  Blocking shots and disrupting passing was noticeable on Saturday and it’s been the significant difference between the first half of the season and the second half when they’ve done better.

With a win this weekend UMass a chance to regain the Alumni Cup from Lowell, something they haven’t possessed since 2011.  In a pretty disappointing year to take the cup from a Lowell team that has been ranked for most of the season would be a nice accomplishment.

For those planning on attending Saturday’s game at Lowell, please note that the game time has been moved to 4pm due to the impending snowstorm.

The other news tonight is that UMass picked up another commitment.  Over The Boards has the news:

That’s it for now.  Stay warm and safe all you Bostonians!  Go UMass!

Good luck with all of your winter-related issues. Just one correction, the storm next week is supposed to hit Tuesday night/Wednesday, not giving us too much time to clean up if we get the 12-24 inches forecast for Saturday/Sunday. I spent a lot of time today with the snow rake, myself. Too much.

Mark, good luck with the leaks, snow, and the commute. And thank you for all of the hard work that makes FTT so awesome.
