Recruit Update ▲ Pelton-Byce Has His First Multi-Goal Game In USHL

High school and prep hockey is starting up in New England so that means recruits Brian Scoville and Colin Felix are in action with their teams soon after spending the fall playing short season juniors.

Dixson picked up his second assist this past week and seems to be playing regularly at this point in the season.

Colin Felix – D – St George’s (RI-HS) – 2017
0 GP / 0 G / 0 A / 0 Pts
St George’s played their first game yesterday, a 5-1 loss to Taft.  Still working on a source for prep statistics.  I’m going to try to see Felix play tomorrow in Canton.  If that happens I’ll post my thoughts in next week’s recruit update.

Nick Jenny – D – Omaha Lancers (USHL) – 2017
21 GP / 0 G / 4 A / 4 Pts / 16 PIM
Jenny was held pointless this past week.

Brian Scoville – D – Winchendon (NE Prep) – 2018
0 GP / 0 G / 0 A / 0 Pts
Winchendon played three games over the weekend.  Again, working on trying to get prep statistics.

Ross Gienieczko of the Collegian has a piece saying the next step in UMass’ rebound season is proving they can be competitive against good teams.  I was saying something similar earlier in the week on Twitter where I noted that UMass’ six wins this season have come against teams with a combined record of 13-39-5.  I think the team has the talent to take that next step, it’s just a matter of when.  Perhaps their first win against a ranked team happens this weekend in South Bend.

The Collegian also has this spotlight on Austin Plevy.

For the second straight month a former Minuteman has grabbed monthly honors in the AHL.  Frank Vatrano was October’s Player of the Month.  It was announced today that Brandon Montour was named AHL Rookie of the Month after scoring four goals and 11 assists during November.

UMass Athletics has their second edition of their alumni update looking at the other UMass players in the pros.

I still plan to do a UMail session this Wednesday, but to do so I need your questions!  Send me your questions about UMass’ results so far, which player has made the biggest difference, what’s led to Shane Walsh’s late career goal explosion (no idea actually), the best beer I had tailgating at UMass football, what you should buy your significant other for Christmas, opinion on the new Hangar location, or whatever!

You can post your questions in the comment section of this post, email them, Tweet them, or Facebook them.

If we play to our potential, we can finish middle of the pack. Lots of ? out there, including BU who we haven’t seen yet. Thoughts?

Also if I can change the subject FTT, do you see a football program on this campus in 2017? Can we pull the plug on the patient?
