Recruit Update ▲ UMass Picks Up A Commitment From Defenseman Marc DelGaizo

The Massachusetts hockey team picked up its second defensive recruit of the week today when Marc DelGaizo, announced his commitment on Twitter this morning.

It appears that DelGaizo will arrive in Amherst in fall of 2018, the same time as Bay State native Jayson Dobay who committed earlier in the week.

DelGaizo, who originally committed to Saint Lawrence at the beginning of the year, appears to be another solid pickup for coach Greg Coach and his staff.  The 5’7”, 165lb blueliner played high school hockey in New Jersey this past season and was named the Courier News’ Player of the Year as just a sophomore.  He had 26 goals and 23 assists in 30 games for Ridge High School.  He also played for the New Jersey Rockets of the EHL where he had 7 goals and 19 assists in 34 games.  And then he finished by playing 2 games in the USHL for the Muskegon Lumberjacks at the tail end of the season.  There’s a good chance he’ll be back in Muskegon to continue his junior career.  His brother Anthony currently plays for the Lumberjacks as well.

DelGaizo recently participated in US Hockey’s Select 17 camp and was named to the All-Star team.

Last year Over The Boards described him as “a smart puck-moving, late-birthdate ’99 who runs the point very well, though his height may not be there to crack the top end of the 1999 defensemen.”

I hope to update the Projected Future Roster page with the newest recruits plus some other minor edits this coming weekend.
