Recruit Update

Ok, let’s see how the future Minutemen are doing as we enter the new year.

John Parker currently has two goals and five assists in 23 games with the Indiana Ice of the USHL, on pace to surpass the numbers he put up with them last year.  Frankly, I’m still a little confused about what type of player Parker is.  When he first went to the USHL I thought he was a playmaker type, but his numbers don’t really support that theory.  I’m not too worried however as there must be a reason why he’s being selected to national teams and was heavily pursued by the OHL.

Conor Allen is also in the USHL playing for the Sioux Fall Stampede.  The defenseman is in his first year in the league and seems to be doing well so far with a goal and four assists to go with a +5 rating and 38 PIM, third on his team.

Eric Filiou appears to be out of action temporarily with mono but so far on the season he’s put up 10 goals and 13 assists in 39 games.  This is close to the pace he put up last year but still well off his first year in the BCHL when he was Division Rookie of the Year.  He does appear to be on a pretty stacked Penticton team however.

Defenseman Colin Shea has scored 5 goals and 11 assists for 16 points, already matching his point total from all of last season and 11th most in the EJHL for d-men..  Half of those points have come on the power play.  He leads his team in PIM, which is strange because when I watched him he looked very disciplined.

Peter DeAngelo is in his first EJHL season playing for the NH Jr Monarchs where he has 12 goals and 8 assists in 26 games.  That’s good for 9th on his team which currently has the second best record in the league.

Mike Pereira is having a good season so far with his new prep school, Avon Old Farms.  Prep hockey stats are always tough to find and verify but it appears he has 9 goals and 8 assists in just 9 games.

Conor Sheary is also doing well on the prep circuit for Cushing Academy.  In 12 games he has 6 goals and 14 assists.

Chris DelMauro has missed the last few games for the New Jersey Rockets of the AJHL but I’m not sure why.  On the season he has a goal, 5 assists, and 35PIM in 13 games.

I was worried when I saw that goalie Kevin Boyle gave up 6 goals in his last start, but seeing as how he still made 45 saves it doesn’t sound like he was getting a lot of help from the guys in front of him, which is what happened in the game I saw in person.  So far on the season he has a 2.90 GAA with a .911 save percentage

Defenseman Joel Hanley is still recovering from a broken leg and is expected to return to the ice next month.  Before he got hurt in November he had 3 goals and 14 assists in 18 games and one of the highest scoring defensemen in the CCHL.
