I’m combining the usual Monday and Tuesday posts this week as tomorrow I’ll be at Matthews Arena for the second time in four days to watch UMass hoops to take on the Huskies.

K.J. Tiefenwerth was recognized as the Hockey East Rookie of the Week for his one goal, two assist effort against Northeastern on Saturday.  Tiefenwerth is the first UMass player to receive weekly honors this season.  Rocco Carzo was named a Top Performer for his play this past weekend.

New Hampshire was named the Team of the Week for their sweep of Lowell and, with Boston College splitting their series with Boston University, the Wildcats moved into the top spot in the USCHO poll as well.  UMass is the only team to hand UNH a loss this season.  BC moves down to #2 while BU moved up a couple spots to #7.  UMass is in the Also Receiving Votes category with one vote, as is their opponent this weekend, Colgate.
