Polls and Awards; Teglia Named Rookie of the Week

One start, one Hockey East award for freshman goaltender Jeff Teglia.  Teglia was named the conference’s rookie of the week after his 33 save effort in the 2-2 tie with BU.

Save for someone likely in the vicinity of Grand Forks, Boston College is the near unanimous top team in the country in the latest USCHO poll.  BU jumped two spots to #8 after their draw with the Minutemen.  The USA Hockey/USA Today poll doesn’t look much different.

BC finds themselves atop the INCH Power Rankings too.

Here is some additional coverage of Saturday’s game.

The Terrier team and faithful wanted a penalty shot in the waning moments of the game.

Here’s the game story from the Collegian.

Dick Baker has a good analysis of the game, mentioning the team’s ability to keep fighting among other things.  Here’s his actual game story which I couldn’t find when I did yesterday’s post.  And he also has a post on Marc Concannon who has looked very good so far.

Speaking of Baker, Teglia wasn’t the only award winner this week.

Oh, and according to College Hockey News BU playing shorthanded due to injury is the reason UMass (missing starting goaltender Paul Dainton, Joel Hanley, Stephen Guzzo, Mike Lecomte, and Eddie Olczyk) was able to come back to tie the Terriers.  Alrighty then.

CBS3 has a feature on captain Paul Dainton and his mask design.  I like it, especially how he pays tribute to his whole family, but I miss his old one with all the different UMass logos on it.  Probably my favorite mask I’ve seen on a UMass goalie.

Alex Berry and James Marcou’s team faced off for a home and home this past weekend with Berry’s Norfolk Admirals sweeping the two game set.  Berry had two assists (and a fight) in the first win while Marcou had a goal for the Sharks as they dropped the second.

Lowell has an interesting fundraiser this week featuring their top hockey and field hockey players competing, complete with a tale of the tape.
