Another hockey blogger, focusing on pond hockey, recently did a writeup on alum Scott Crowder and all the great work he has been doing in organizing large scale outdoor hockey tournaments around New England.  What did this blogger get for his time and energy put into his post for his blog?  He had it ripped off by the local paper, New Hampshire’s Union Leader.

I find this frankly, disgusting.  Luckily, as far as I know, nothing I’ve written has been stolen.  Probably because any newspaper wouldn’t want to put in all the time and effort it’d take to copy edit my writing to publishable standards.  But I hate to see this happen to another blogger, especially one who I can relate to writing about a subject which I’m also passionate about and spend so much of my own free time dedicated to.  The Union Leader should be ashamed of themselves.  I sincerely hope there is a quickly printed correction citing Backyard Hockey as the correct author, a published apology from the paper itself, and a boot into the world of unemployment for whoever did the plagiarizing.
