The first USCHO/CBS College Sports poll is out.  UMass makes an appearance in the Also Receiving Votes category, de facto 26th.  Defending champs BU checking in 2nd and is the only Hockey East team in the Top 10.  Lowell checks in at 11th, BC at #12, Vermont at 14th, and Northeastern finishes off the poll at 20th.  Cornell, Yale, and Princeton all make the Top 10?  Um, wow.  Must be due to their strong performance in last year’s NCAA tourney…

Kevin Jarman has been signed by the Mississippi RiverKings of the CHL.  I was wondering why I couldn’t find where he was playing last season.  Turns out he missed the year recovering from hip surgery.  Let’s hope he’s able to get his hockey career back on track.

The UMass Hockey Radio Show kicks off its season tonight at 7pm at the Hangar.  It’ll be broadcast on 100.9 WRNX.  Not that any extra motivation is needed to go enjoy the wings and quality beer selection there, but these radio shows are a great excuse to head to the Hangar.  I only wish I still lived in the valley and could make it.
